The La Mirada City Council approved the Creek Park Master Plan at its June 26, City Council meeting. The popular community park sits on about 11 acres along La Mirada Creek. Built in the 1970’s, the park is in need of infrastructure improvements, renovations, and enhanced accessibility.
The renovations to the popular community park will include re-naturalization of the creek, improvements to the trails, bridge structures, lighting, and restroom areas. Other proposed enhancements may include terraced seating along the creek, pollinator gardens, fitness stations made of natural materials, and play nodes for park visitors to enjoy.
The Master Plan was developed considering extensive public input gathered from public workshops, social media, as well as visits with residents of the neighborhoods near the park.
“It was essential to consider the input from residents to ensure the park met the community’s needs,” says City Manager Jeff Boynton. “The Master Plan blends new features with the key elements and character of the existing park to create a place that will be enjoyed by all residents.
